This section of Maintenance World focuses on maintenance
software, or computerized maintenance management software (CMMS)
as it’s often called. We have tried hard not to favor
any particular software in the article section, even though
you may find paid advertisement on maintenance software and
maintenance management software on the site. The articles are
usually focused on cultural, technical, and other issues we
often run into when implementing maintenance software.
CMMS is often referred to as “work order system” or “work
order software”. We believe that this is an old habit
from the time when a CMMS did just that; create a work order,
hence the name “work order software”. Today maintenance
software is so much more that just follow costs through a
work order system, a good CMMS should be able to create inspection
routes with hand held computers, create daily, weekly and
shutdown schedules, generate downtime reports per equipment,
area, and system, manage spare parts, purchasing, approvals
and much more.
As this section continues to grow, we hope you can find
valuable information maintenance management software information
for yourself and your plant.
